The Debates! - Les débats!
Third and fourth days of the campaign and the debates have begun! My opponent stated at the debates that implementation of green initiatives are too expensive and should not be done. Reality could not be further from the truth! His argument is the age old fallacy that gets trotted out anytime someone wants to debunk green programs and initiatives.
In fact right now, the University of BC has a counter on it’s website that shows how much they will save on resources and money by instituting green initiatives campus wide! The best part about these savings is that they are shared. I will work to develop a shared savings program with our university as well. Check out their energy and resource savings counter at www.sustain.ubc.ca -- let’s work together to support a better environmental outlook for our campus.
My opponent also thinks that imposing loans on clubs will help them offer better events and increase student spirit. I, and many other clubs obviously disagree; where I want to increase student spirit by increasing club funding through the use of our business growth, my opponent wants to constrain and create debt for them. This is unacceptable-The SFUO is not a bank! The only incentive the SFUO should need to support and promote clubs is that they foster a sense of community by increasing participation and student spirit—NO STRINGS ATTACHED!
Don’t forget the protest against the rising costs of tuition is set for February 7th at Morriset Terrace (11am).

Mon adversaire nous a révélé qu’il croit que nos initiatives environnementales seront trop cher et donc ne devra pas même pas être tenté. Mais en réalité, ceci est complètement faux ! Son argument plutôt est le même argument historique et daté pour contré n'importe quelle tentation en faveur d’un progrès environnementale.
Mais les faits nous justifient ! Il ne faut que regarder l’exemple de l’Université de la C-B qui a établie sur leur site internet des preuves irrévocables d’un épargnent de ressources sur le campus en entier ! Donc, je vais travailler pour établir un programme qui effectuera un partage de millions de dollars sauvé entre l’université et la FÉUO. Visitez le site web www.sustain.ubc.ca pour voir combien de millions de dollars ils ont sauvé!
De plus, mon adversaire veut exiger des prêts aux associations étudiantes (clubs). Nous sommes complètement en désaccords, car je crois plutôt à offrir un support financier pour lever l’esprit scolaire sans prêts et sans attaches. La FÉUO, est ici uniquement pour relever le moral et réaliser une atmosphère de participation et vivacité !
Dernièrement, n’oubliez pas de vous présenter sur la terrasse à Morrisset le 7 février contre l’augmentation des frais de scolarité.

A Strong Green Partnership
Modeled after green campus initiatives already underway on campuses across Canada (WatGreen at uWaterloo and UBC's sustainability office), I will develop a Green Partnership Program – between Green Campus, the SFUO and uOttawa. The Green Partnership's aim is to introduce new initiatives such as the student bus pass, environmental standards for energy usage and construction, bike sharing, all while integrating existing initiatives to form a comprehensive environmental strategy.
Increasing Student Spirit by Increasing Club Funding
Working for you, I will fight the culture of apathy by increasing funding and promotion for our clubs, arts and culture – encouraging involvement and fostering school spirit through a culture of participation.
Sustainable Growth— Improved Services
I will implement sustainable business practices – aiming to increase SFUO business and service growth – by developing environmentally friendly practices in conjunction with innovative marketing strategies. I will continue to fight for improvements to gym and student space, food services, and work study position availability.
Getting Serious with uOttawa on Tuition
Students at this university have fought for years to lower tuition, only to see uOttawa sit idly by blaming others as it rose. I will fight to close the gap between this administration and its students by petitioning them to back up their words with concrete actions.

Inspiré de plusieurs initiatives écologiques en cours au Canada sur divers campus (comme WatGreen à l'Université de Waterloo et des programmes de soutenables à l'Úniversité de C.-B.), je développerai un programme de Partenariat Campus Vert avec l’association Campus Vert, la FÉUO et l’Université d’Ottawa afin d’introduire de nouvelles initiatives ainsi que renforcir celles déjà en place afin de former une stratégie environnementale compréhensive.
Un accroissement de l’esprit étudiant par le financement des clubs
Travaillant pour vous, je combattrai la culture apathique en augmentant le financement et en promouvant nos clubs, les arts et la culture, tout en encourageant l’implication des étudiants et favorisant une forte cohésion par l’entremise d’une culture participative.
Une croissance soutenue – Services améliorés
J’instaurerai des procédures de gestion soutenables visant à favoriser la croissance économique de la FÉUO en développant des pratiques écologiques en conjonction avec des stratégies de marketing innovatrices. Je continuerai à me battre pour des améliorations aux salles de conditionnement physique, aux espaces étudiants, aux services de traiteur ainsi que pour la disponibilité des postes du régime Travail-Étude.
Diminution des frais de scolarité
Depuis plusieurs années les étudiants de l’université ont combattu pour abaisser les frais de scolarité seulement pour voir l’Université d’Ottawa reléguer la faute aux autres pendant que ceux-ci ne cessaient d’augmenter. Je continuerai à me battre pour enfin voir l’administration et les étudiants faire front commun en pétitionnant pour la concrétisation des paroles de l’administration par des actions.
